Who Am I?

My name Benoist Apparu. Born November 24, 1969 in Toulouse, I came from a family of two children. I have a brother, editor of a foreign national public television. My university studies allowed me to obtain a DESS in International Business Law.

I quickly became involved in politics since from 1994 to 1999, I was Bruno BOURG-BROC’s parliamentary assistant in Paris and in my constituency. This first experience allowed me to be elected National President of the young RPR in 1996.

Wishing to discover the world of business, I worked from 1999 to 2002 in a large advertising group, where I was in charge of agri-food issues.

Very attached to the city of Châlons-en-Champagne, I was elected Deputy Mayor in March 2001 in charge of youth and communication and sustainable development since March 2008, following the re-election of Bruno BOURG-BROC . In April 2008, I was also elected Vice-President of the Agglomeration Community delegated to the environment and sustainable development.

On a professional level, I made the choice to work in different ministerial cabinets since 2002. I was Xavier DARCOS ‘Chief of Cabinet, successively Minister Delegate for School Education, then Minister Delegate for Cooperation. In 2005, I was Counselor then Deputy Director of the Cabinet of Minister Delegate for Social Cohesion, Catherine VAUTRIN.

Since 1994, I have been sharing my time between Châlons and Paris as a parliamentary assistant to assist Bruno BOURG-BROC in his constituency work and then as deputy mayor of Châlons-en-Champagne. My career allows me to benefit from a double public private experience.

In the wake of the storm of 26 December 1999 and the destruction of the Moulin de Valmy, I immediately became involved in the association for the reconstruction of the Moulin de Valmy as Treasurer. After the reconstruction of the mill, the association changed its name to become the association for the promotion of the Moulin de la Valmy.

On June 16, 2007 I was elected Deputy of the 4th constituency of the Marne with as substitute Bruno BOURG-BROC.

Since June 23, 2009, I am Secretary of State for Housing and Urbanism, with Jean-Louis Borloo and today Secretary of State for Housing with Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet – Minister of Ecology , Sustainable Development, Transport and Housing – in the Government of François Fillon.
